Forest Therapy and Mental Health Promotion
Amanda Yik
Hong Kong Nature and Forest Therapy Community
Abstract
Forest Therapy is becoming increasingly popular across the world as more research are being conducted to understand the impact that spending more time in nature has on our health and wellbeing. While this practice is widely perceived to have its roots in the East, it has gained renewed attention and momentum as a result of interest in the West, notably the development of “nature prescription” and the rise in awareness of the importance of mental health. This article also explores how Forest Therapy is being applied to urban cities such as Hong Kong, and what opportunities and challenges are present.

Maria Hung
School of Health Sciences, Caritas Institute of Higher Education

Abstract
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused a global health crisis since late 2019. This paper will present research evidence demonstrating the pandemic had imposed significant physical, psychological, and social health impacts on human beings. Lessening the adverse effects of COVID-19 on mental health is a public health priority globally and locally. The Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) recommended coordinating the governmental and non-governmental departments, healthcare organizations, and educational institutions to promote “Mental Health for All”. This paper will further discuss appropriate strategies and activities to facilitate and enhance people’s resilience capacity, especially for those who are vulnerable or significantly affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the long run, hopefully the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic or future public health emergencies on mental health in the general population could be prevented or mitigated. (The paper was submitted to the Editorial Board in 2021 with figures reflecting the impact of COVID-19 pandemic at that time.)

Problem Gaming in Adolescents with Intellectual Disability: Are They Also Influenced by Problem Gaming as Their Normal Counterparts?
Anson C Y Tang
School of Nursing, Tung Wah College

Abstract
Problem gaming is a prevalent behavioural issue commonly observed in adolescents and young adults all over the world. Many studies have reported the pathophysiological mechanism and the impact of pathological gaming. The key purpose of this paper is to analyse the current situation of problem gaming on intellectually intact and disabled adolescents. Impaired cognitive control and selfregulation are believed to be the major causes of pathological gaming though findings are from intellectually normal populations. The prevalence of pathological gaming in adolescents with intellectually disability is as high as that in normal adolescents. Existing studies seldom explore problem gaming on intellectual disability population though they are potentially at risk of problem gaming due to the weaker cognitive function. Mental health professionals should pay more attention to adolescents with intellectually disability regarding problem gaming. It is recommended that a psychometrically sound tool for screening early symptoms of pathological gaming should be devised for intellectually disabled youths to facilitate early identification and timely intervention.
